RAMP Card

Known as a PA bartending license

RAMP stands for Responsible Alcohol Management Program. It is a voluntary program of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) to help businesses and individuals learn how to serve alcohol responsibly. RAMP training covers topics such as:
  • The laws and regulations governing the sale and service of alcohol in Pennsylvania
  • How to identify and prevent intoxicated customers
  • How to handle alcohol-related incidents
  • How to create a safe and responsible drinking environment
RAMP training is available online by taking the bartender license course. It takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Once you have completed RAMP training, you will receive a certificate of completion.

Why should I take RAMP training for PA?

  • It shows that you are committed to responsible alcohol service. RAMP certification demonstrates that you have completed training on the laws and regulations governing the sale and service of alcohol, as well as how to identify and prevent intoxicated customers. This can be a valuable asset to potential employers, as it shows that you are serious about your work and that you are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for your customers.
  • It can help you avoid fines and other penalties for serving alcohol to minors or intoxicated customers. If you are found to have served alcohol to a minor or an intoxicated customer, you could face fines, jail time, or the loss of your liquor license. RAMP certification can help you avoid these penalties by demonstrating that you have taken steps to learn about the laws and regulations governing the sale and service of alcohol.
  • It can help you protect yourself and your customers from the dangers of alcohol abuse. RAMP training teaches you about the signs of intoxication and how to intervene if you see someone who is over-served. This can help you protect your customers from the dangers of alcohol abuse, such as alcohol poisoning and drunk driving.

If you want to be a bartender in PA, I encourage you to consider getting RAMP certified by taking the bartender license course. It is a small investment that can pay off big in the long run.
